Parkside Library

Parkside School has a well equipped, computerized library. Although we will be using the same computer system as Shortgrass, we are not part of the public library and school library books must still be returned to the school. Classes are scheduled each week in the library giving students an ample opportunity to sign out items and learn how to use the library. In addition, students may do this anytime throughout the week. There is an informal library club, on a drop-in basis, for students who wish to learn how to help shelve books or prepare new books for shelving.

Hours of Operation

• Open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
• Open Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
• Open Fridays from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
• Closed over noon hour

Students may be asked to leave the library and may be suspended from library use for violating library rules.

Library Item Replacement

Items may be signed out for two weeks at a time. Renewing items is easy, just bring the items back to the library to be re-stamped. Students who are absent due to illness must return their books on the first day back to school. Students will be responsible for the cost to fix books that can be repaired. In addition, students will be responsible for the replacement cost of any lost books or textbooks. The following guidelines will be followed:

• Class lists of overdue books will be printed and distributed to homerooms twice monthly.
• Library privileges will be suspended until overdue or lost library books are returned or replacement cost is paid.
• Detentions may result in default.
